Using Noncognitive Skills to Improve Student Success
ASCA, the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals have joined together to create a professional development opportunity for teachers, administrators and school counselors to collaborate to improve student outcomes through the development of noncognitive skills. The foundation of the training is the ASCA Student Standards: Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success®. These standards describe the knowledge, skills and attitudes students need to achieve academic success, college and career readiness and social/emotional development and will be the essential program content.
Learn how your district’s administrators, teachers and school counselors can collaborate to use these noncognitive skills to support each other’s shared mission – improve academic achievement, attendance and behavior for their students. The training creates an opportunity for professional dialogue and action. Through the use of adult learning skills, principals, teachers and school counselors will engage in an exploration and outcome-based experience concentrated on implementation and delivery of the content into existing instructional programs.
