The Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is a two-day professional development event for volunteer leaders and staff of ASCA's affiliated state/territory school counselor associations (SCAs). Participants can expect training and speakers to review leadership competencies, ASCA updates and the chance to share/network with one another. The meeting concludes with Delegate Assembly, ASCA's annual business meeting. All LDI participants are nonvoting participants of the meeting unless designated by their state/territory as voting.
LDI participants must be current ASCA members at the time of the meeting. In addition, voting delegates must meet the requirements in ASCA's bylaws (Article IV) and policies.
LDI participants who plan to attend the ASCA Annual Conference are eligible for a special registration rate. Select the delegate rate when registering online. SCAs may register multiple people for the ASCA Conference at the delegate rate online or by check. Request a paper ASCA Conference delegate registration form by email to pay via check.
What's the difference between LDI and Delegate Assembly, and who attends each?
Great question. LDI is a leadership development and training meeting for ASCA's affiliate organizations, also called divisions. Divisions may send as many leaders as they wish to attend this meeting.
Delegate Assembly is the gathering of delegates from each division to represent the ASCA membership and identify current issues, trends and concerns that inform the ends policies of the association; provide recommendations to the Board of Directors, committees and task forces; and review and vote on proposed revisions to ASCA bylaws.
Each division has two voting delegates, but as the business meeting for the organization, this is an open meeting. Eligibility for voting delegates is outlined on the Delegate Assembly page here or within the ASCA bylaws here
