Plans are well underway for PSCA’s 64th Annual Conference, scheduled for November 21-22 in Pittsburgh. The conference theme, “The Point of It All: Student Success,” provides the framework for the conference activities and professional development offerings.
Attendees from the past few conferences will see some changes in structure of the days’ events…all in response to suggestions from Conference 63 evaluations. You suggested; we’re responding. Expect, too, to see some southwestern PA “flavor” at the conference. It’s been 22 years since a PSCA conference has come this far west and only the third time Pittsburgh has been our host city. We will feature the unique offerings of the area in a variety of ways, and, while the Hershey characters will not be travelling to Conference 64, some special Pittsburgh characters have been invited to make an appearance. Watch the website and PSCA eXTRA for emerging details.
Information about the following will be on the PSCA website no later than April 1, 2019:
Bill Lee Leadership Grant: Opportunity to receive a grant covering conference registration cost
PA School Counselor of the Year: I’m sure you know a school counselor colleague/friend who demonstrates exemplary practice. The earlier you nominate them (a very easy process) the sooner your colleague can begin the application process (rigorous).
School Counselor Educator of the Year: A full-time school counselor who prepares graduate students in a commendable manner to become practicing school counselors.
School Counselor Graduate Student Scholarship: Full time graduate students may apply for the scholarship valued at $1,000.
Administrator Appreciation Award: An opportunity to nominate a principal, assistant superintendent or superintendent who has demonstrated exemplary support of school counselors and school counseling programs.
Reference Calendar and Directory 2019–2020
The PSCA Reference Directory and Calendar (Planner) is undergoing a remodeling of sorts. We are hoping to have it in school counselors’ offices at the beginning of August. That said, please make sure that your membership is active and that your information, especially preferred mailing address is up to date by July 15. The information in our database on that date will be used to process the mailing of the Directories.
