2018 New Mexico School Counselor of the Year:
Kendra Moulton

Kendra Moulton currently serves as the school counselor at Edmund G. Ross Elementary in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is a member of ASCA and NMSCA.

Moulton is a native New Mexican, growing up in Albuquerque. She received her BA in psychology from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, and went on to receive her MA in counseling and educational psychology, also from NMSU.

She has worked for Albuquerque Public Schools as a School Counselor since the fall of 1993 (other than four years in the district office as a resource counselor) and has been at E.G. Ross Elementary for the past eight years.  E.G. Ross is a Title I school of just under 500 students in grades K–5. The elementary level is definitely where Moulton feels she belongs, due to the age of the students and their infinite potential. She strives to deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that provides both prevention and intervention. Her primary goal is to remove barriers to learning and help students be the best they can be. Moulton is continually evaluating the effectiveness of her interventions and looking for new, innovative ideas to support students and staff, and make E.G. Ross Elementary School a better place.

Moulton was delighted to have her program mentioned by First Lady Michelle Obama in her keynote address at the 2014 ASCA Annual Conference. She is honored to be named New Mexico School Counselor of the Year.
