President's Letter: Ready to Serve

By Dr. Dana Jackson | May 2023

Greetings, LSSSCA family. It is with great honor and excitement that I write to you as the new president of the Lone Star State School Counselor Association (LSSSCA), for the 2023-2024 term. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Texas school counselors for entrusting me with the opportunity to lead such a dynamic group of professionals. It is truly a privilege to serve and work alongside all of you.

First, let me begin by acknowledging the tremendous work of my predecessor, Tiffany Rhodriquez, whose leadership and dedication have significantly enhanced every aspect of our organization. I am looking forward to continuing to build upon those accomplishments, with the help of our talented LSSSCA Board and our amazing LSSSCA members.

Initiatives supporting the overall well-being of school counselors and professional advocacy are my top priorities. As your president, I am fired up and excited about the trail we will blaze together this year. What better way to do this than at our annual LSSSCA Conference, set for October 22–24, 2023, in Frisco, Texas. The conference theme, “Texas School Counselors: Igniting Change,” was selected because this is what school counselors do best. You as school counselors are igniting change in your schools and serve as beacons of light that empower and encourage ALL students, throughout our great state.

Together, let us strive to create a vibrant and inclusive community that is committed to promoting leadership, advocacy, collaboration, and systemic change.
