From the Chair: Working for Our Professional Community
By Jennifer Dodson | May 2023
As you close out this school year, we hope you are feeling fulfilled and content that you have made a difference in your students’ lives. The work you do is so incredibly important yet we know it comes with many challenges. Your ISCA Board of Directors is committed to supporting you as a professional, so that you are in-the-know about today’s world of school counseling, challenged to make a difference for students, and feel a sense of belonging in this community of Indiana school counselors.
Over the past year, your ISCA board of directors has been busy at work. We have:
Ensured a high quality 2022 ISCA annual conference
Met with all of our awesome committee leaders to hear an update on their work and discuss how we can provide support
Developed a procedures manual to drive our work
Revised our bylaws
Worked on revamping the evaluation process for our executive director
This is not to mention the ongoing work that the ISCA committees, executive director and other stakeholders have engaged in on your behalf.
Our conference committee is already well into the planning phase for the 2023 ISCA annual conference. We invite you to learn more about this year’s conference and ask you to consider presenting a session. Our theme this year is “School Counselors are ALL in! Allies, Listeners, Learners” and we are so excited for it! We have amazing keynote speakers lined up; you will definitely want to mark your calendar!
