President's Letter: Keep Dreaming Wild

By Kayla Wilkinson | March 2023

By the time you read this we will have wrapped up our annual school counseling conference. It ended up being quite the event this year. Our theme was Dream Wild, borrowing from ASCA’s national theme of Dream Big, and dream wild we did! This was the largest conference we have ever hosted. We knew we were outgrowing our space last year, but I don’t think we realized just how many attendees were going to register. That’s okay, though – it was a great problem to have.

We were pleased to have Lynn Lyons as our keynote speaker. As a nationally recognized expert in the field of anxiety in children, she brought much needed information and ideas for us to implement with our students. Thank you, Lynn, for braving the Wyoming winter and providing wonderful professional development.

We were also pleased that our conference fell within National School Counseling Week. Not that we needed an excuse to have a good time, but having the largest gathering of school counselors in the state during this celebratory week was a perfect reason to sneak in fun events for our colleagues to enjoy themselves while getting their learning on.

As you all can imagine, running a successful event takes a lot of work and would not have been possible without the hard work of our conference committee and our many sponsors. We hope everyone found it informative and worthwhile. Truly none of it could have taken place without the support of our state partners and sponsors. We appreciate everyone who attended and supported the 2023 WySCA Dream Wild Conference, particularly our sponsors listed below:

Platinum Sponsors:
  • GEAR UP
  • WDE-CTE
  • Serve Wyoming
  • Hathaway
  • Wyoming Congressional Award Council
  • UW School of Energy Resources
Silver Sponsors:
  • Central Wyoming College
  • Universal Technical Institute
Bronze Sponsors:
  • Safe2Tell
  • Wyoming Equality
Cheers to another successful year of bringing Wyoming school counselors together! Keep up the important work of helping our students to dream wild.
