Counselor Spotlight: Shayne Thompson

The counselor spotlight is shining on Shayne Thompson this month! Shayne is a member of the counseling team at Harrison High School in the Harrison School District. A phenomenal young lady and counselor, Shayne communicates with her students and provides them with resources and tools to be successful. She takes every student seriously, supporting them with their struggles and celebrating their successes.

She always has a positive attitude when proposing new programs and services for her school’s counseling program. One cool project she helped implement was the senior pancake breakfast in the fall to promote FAFSA and college and career readiness. She also helped start the Culture Connect program by partnering with the Student Council to meet monthly with foreign exchange students. Another success was her revamping of her school’s Student Success Plan, which has been an example at the state level.

Shayne’s husband also works alongside her in the district in the IT department. She loves coaching soccer for her children, Jude, Clark, Silvie and their teammates. Thanks to Anne Milburn for nominating Shayne.
